Hyperopia

Understanding Farsightedness and Finding Your Clear Focus

Hyperopia, commonly known as farsightedness, is a vision condition where you can see distant objects relatively clearly, but close-up objects—like text on a phone or words in a book—appear blurry or cause your eyes to feel tired and strained.

At Advanced Eye Institute, we provide precise vision testing in Cut Off to correct farsightedness so you can enjoy comfortable, clear sight at all distances.

What Causes Farsightedness?

Farsightedness occurs when your eyeball is slightly shorter than normal, or when your cornea is too flat. Because of this, light entering your eye focuses behind your retina instead of directly on it, resulting in a blurry image for close-up tasks.

Signs You May Be Farsighted

  • Difficulty focusing on near tasks
  • Eye strain, aching eyes, or squinting during reading or computer work
  • Frequent headaches after close-up work

How We Correct Hyperopia

Farsightedness is highly manageable. After a thorough exam in our clinic, we will recommend the best options for your eyes and lifestyle:

  • Prescription Glasses: Custom single-vision glasses for reading, or progressive/bifocal lenses if you also need distance correction.
  • Contact Lenses: Soft or gas-permeable contacts that fit comfortably and move naturally with your eyes.
  • LASIK Co-Management: If you are interested in a permanent solution, we can evaluate if you are a candidate for laser vision correction.

Bring your close-up world back into focus.
